5K Program

Fiscus Fitness is partnering with Geared for Good to bring you an unique opportunity to train for a 5K or one mile walk and get involved with a good cause.

How it Works

Between now and April 5th, 2014 we are offering a 12 Week 5K program or 12 Week One Mile Walk program for just $5.50!  That's about the cost of one fancy coffee drink or a magazine. (Purchase Below!) 

The program will tell you what to train and how much to train, every day for an 12 entire weeks... which leads up to the big 5K or one mile event on June 28th, 2014.

That is the Frederick County Animal Welfare League's Annual Paws 'N Claws 5K.  There is also an option to walk one mile if you prefer.

As you complete your 12 week training, log your progress on Geared for Good.  It is an online fitness fundraising community.  You can update your status, contact us for advice and encourage others. Then, promote your training to your friends and family and ask them to make donations through Geared for Good on your behalf as you complete your workouts.  People can donate once, or donate often.  All the proceeds will be going to the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County (AWLFC).

It doesn't matter where you live-- you can still do the 12 week program.  

  • If you are currently doing our fitness challenge, it's a great way to stay active and motivated.
  • There are many races that day across the United States on June 28th, so you might be able to use the program to compete in a local race. Click here to find one near you.
  • You can purchase the program without fundraising, but we would love to help this great organization that rescues and re-homes animals in need.

What to Do Next 

1. Purchase a program from the drop down menu below: all programs will be delivered by email the week of March 30th. Training begins April 6th.

  • The 5K program is appropriate for anyone who can walk three miles in an hour or less, anyone who completed the fitness challenge or current runners who want to improve their time.
  • The one mile program is for beginner exercises, people who have joint/musculoskeletal issues/knee or back problems, or those who simply prefer walking to running.

2. Sign up for the "Steps for Pets" campaign on the Geared for Good site.  Make sure you select Team Fiscus Fit so you receive updates.

3. Start getting the word out to others through social media.

4. Decide if you are going to try to raise money per workout or ask for one time donations.  

5. Find a good pedometer app or purchase a pedometer so you can log your steps.  Suggestions can be found here.
